Coasol™ is a mixture of Di-Isobutyl Succinate, Di-Isobutyl Glutarate and Di-Isobutyl Adipate.
Di-Isobutyl Succinate % w/w 10-25
Di-Isobutyl Glutarate % w/w 45 - 65
Di-Isobutyl Adipate % w/w 10 - 35
Total diester content % w/w min. 99
Coasol™ is positioned as a superior replacement to the 2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol Monoisobutyrate. Coasol™ has a boiling range of 274°C - 289°C, as against the prevailing Pentanediol Mono Isobutyrate Esters (i.e. Texanol, UCAR Filmer IBT, NX795) which have boiling ranges in range of 255°C - 261.5°C. Coasol™ is said demonstrate and replace the Pentanediol Monoisobutyrate Esters with an efficacy of upto 50% (The benefits of the Coasol™ vary depending on the resin systems used by the Paint Formulator).
Benefits
High Eco-Tox Profile
- Non-VOC, biodegradable and low odour ‘on wall’.
- Coasol™ isn’t toxic and is Non HAPS (Hazardous Air Pollutant).
- No esters of butyric acid so no risk of unpleasant odours when paint applied to alkaline walls.
High Performance & Efficiency
- Can use 20-50% less than the Texanol (depending on the resin system) to achieve a low MFFT.
- Reduced solvent loading to allow incorporation of open time extenders and freeze/thaw protection systems.
- Improved paint rheology and pigment wetting
- Incorporated easily in low shear mixing
- Minimal water solubility improves portioning performance
Enhanced film properties
- Improved open time enhances film formation
- Film integrity and durability improved by drying profile
- Excellent water resistance
- Improved colour development & minimal impact on gloss
- Improved film hardness without cracking
- Improved wet rub performance
- Resistant to hydrolysis so useable on Alkaline surfaces
