Distilled Tall Oil (DTO) is defined by rosin acid content with 25-30% being most popular.
As a complex mixture of fatty acid fractions, represented by liolic, linoleic, oleic and other acids, as well as of resin acids fraction: abietic, dihydroabietic, palustric, neoabietic, isopimaric and others; it combines the advantages of fatty acids and rosin acids, making it an ideal raw material for functional products like alkyd resins, cleaners, oil field chemicals, metal working fluids, soaps, surfactants, etc.
DTO helps provide hardness improvement for indoor varnishes with high gloss and excellent water and alkali resistance. When used as magnesium soaps, DTO can be very efficient dispersants for fuel oils.
Saiper offers DTO of European origin with a specific characteristic to have more double bounds than what is available in the DTO with an origin closer to the equator.
